A widespread outage affected Oceanic Time Warner Cable subscribers in East Hawaii on Wednesday afternoon. At about 5:30 p.m., a pre-recorded message noted: “We are currently experiencing an interruption in service on the Big Island in Panaewa, Keaau, Pahoa, Kurtistown, Mountain View, Volcano and surrounding areas due to a fiber break. … Technicians are working to restore services as quickly as possible.”

A customer service representative was unable to answer questions, and referred the Tribune-Herald to a phone number with a message that noted that the company’s administrative office was closed for the day.
